We recently ran a wedding photography course in Chelmsford, Essex at the wonderful Ingatestone Hall. We had a splendid day with a great group of photographers each one out to improve their photography skills. The day was designed to help individuals develop their wedding portfolio’s as well as their technical and creative skills.
All of the delegates produced some wonderfully images on the day and continued to develop their own unique styles. Becoming a good wedding photographer takes a great deal of time, experience and technical ability whilst you will also require a good portfolio. Wedding portfolio builder days are used by many professionals and amateurs to develop their technical ability, practise creative setups and to enhance their portfolio. Without a portfolio is is always going to be very difficult to win work and so our wedding photography courses prove very popular.
I strongly belive that you need to continuously push yourself, whatever your level of expertise and continuous training is one way of doing just that. Our photography courses are run with small groups in great locations and fabulous models to ensure that everyone learns and really benefits from the day.
I was delighted on the day that the modelling agency that we often work with Promomodels came equipped with the most wonderful selection of wedding dresses from House of Couture and so our professional bride and groom models looked wonderful.
If you are looking for a wedding photography course then our selection of programmes may well be the perfect solution for you. Whatever skill level you currently have then we are equipped to move you forwards. All of the images on this page were taken by delegates with various levels of skills and experience.
I would like to say a big thank you to Promomodels and House of Couture for their help on the day,

Leave a commentThe last couple of weeks have proven to be very exciting with the cricket season in full swing and other sporting occassions rearing up. There is nothing to beat the thrill of sports photography and I never foget what a privelige it is to be working in an environment that I love so much.
I thought I would share a selection of images with you which highlights some of the work over the past couple of weeks.

I wouldn’t claim to be a specialist boxing photographer however when the opportunity arrived to go ringside at York Hall the home of British bxing then I couldn’t say no. Totally different skills are required (and equipment) to many other sports and you get a step nearer to appreciating the bravery of the pugilists.

Can there be a better job for an Essex cricket fan and photographer – I’m not convinced there is. Cricket photography can be hard work (honestly) and you never stop learning:

Leave a commentWe recently ran one of our ever popular portrait photography courses in Chelmsford, Essex with a brilliant bunch of photographers and a great new model Danni. I always enjoy running this particualr course as the delegates never fail to be amazed at how quickly they can develop their photography skills and start producing wonderful, professional standard portraits.
This particular course is aimed towards photographers who are either keen amateur photographers, those looking to take better pictures of family / friends and those looking to become professional portrait photographers.
During the course of the day we managed to pack in plenty of photographic techniques, tips and practices. All of the students produced some stunning results.

Our model Danni was great to work with as she was very friendly and happy to try everyone’s ideas. As a professional model she was happy to try all of the poses that we were working on whilst also providing some great ideas herself.
We intentionally run our photography courses with small group sizes so that everyone feels very comfortable and has plenty of time to develop their skills.

With the Essex Cricket team now off to a sunnier climate and the current England cricket captain Alastair Cook having a great knock I thought it would be of interest to show a few images from a recent training session. As the club photographer at Essex I am fortunate to glimpse some of the behind closed door training session that are getting our heroes into shape for the new season.
Last week the guys participted in a fun session which involved them throwing themselves onto crash mats in a relay race against each other. It was not for the faint hearted as one misplaced jump could easily have resulted in a few lost teeth. Paul Grayson (Coach) looked on with keen interest / horror, praying for no injuries and his prayers were answered.

All of the team are looking forward to a great season in the top flight and I will continue to post images during the season from behind the scenes.

I am looking to develop a library of images during the season from behind the scenes at Essex County Cricket Club and would be delighted to hear from any fans who would like some input on the pictures that we record, please get in touch. It is a boyhood dream to become a sports photographer and a real wish come true to be shooting the club that I have always followed, hopefully my passion for the club will come out in the pictures.
This was one of my first opportunities to try out the new Canon 1d Mark iv under indoor conditions and I was delighted with the results. The camera will be employed throughout the season and I can’t wait to see how it performs under match conditions.

Beginners Photography Courses
Published 22nd February 2010
Leave a commentLast Saturday I had the pleasure of running one of our popular beginners photography courses in Chelmsford, Essex with a great bunch of photographers. The beauty of our introductory courses is that you get a great mix of people including those completely new to photography, those new to digital or even starting out on a new photography career.
During the course of the day we provide a good overview of an SLR camera, technical terminology and equipment before moving onto some of the more creative features of the camera. All of our courses are designed to simplify the subject and to make photography enjoyable. We always work with small groups to provide a better learning environment.
The afternoon is spent out and about Chelmsford practising the techniques and ensuring that everyone learns plenty. here are a few quotes from the day:
‘Excellent – helpful and informative’
‘Very enjoyable’
‘Would definately do another course’
‘Looking forward to doing portrait course’
The most pleasing part of the day is seeing the joy on delegates faces when they realise their own potential (and also the fact that nearly all of the delegates have already booked onto more courses).
If you would like to attend one of beginners photography courses then please get in touch.

We hired in a model – Lauren for some of the day so that a range of techniques including posing could be practised and she worked brilliantly with all of the delegates. Taking great people shots can be initially quite daunting for many people however once you practise in a safe environment then confidence comes quickly.
Lauren arrived with a great selection of outfits so that all delegates were able to take some superb images to help improve the quality of their portfolios.

Fashion photography courses, Chelmsford, Essex
This one day portrait photography courseis pitched towards keen amateur photographers and those people looking to become professional photographers therefore during the day we consider commercial aspects of photography. Becoming a professional photographer often means becoming self employed and running your own business, a fact which is often overlooked by many starting out in the industy. We are able to help out individuals by identifying images that sell, products that sell and suppliers to use.
If you are looking to becomme a professional photographer or simply looking to take better people images, then one of our portrait training courses could be the answer. Please contact us for more information or visit our website http://www.unshaken-photography.co.uk. All of our photography training courses are run with small class sizes, are fun, informative and rewarding.
Feedback from all attendees was superb each of whom came with different levels of experience and wanted to achieve slightly different objects – each of which was met.
Wedding photography course, Essex
We recently ran one of our popular wedding photography portfolio days at Ingatestone Hall just outside of Chelmsford, Essex. Portfolio days are an excellent means of taking your photography skills to the next level by practising in a safe environment where your creative skills can be allowed to run free.
During the course of the day we had seven bride and groom models available to be photographed anywhere within the house or gardens. The images taken by the delegates are all able to be used within their portfolios or on the websites to promote their business and to help them attract new business.
Often during the course of a wedding, time with the bride and groom is severly restricted if you don’t want to dominate proceedings. As a result practising the shots you would like to achive during a wedding portfolio day is a great means of preparing for the big day.
Professional wedding photographers have used portfolio days to improve their portfolios for many years although few are willing to admit it. Portfolio days are in-fact a wonderful tool to use and demonstrate to clients a professional approach to your work by demonstrating how you continue to push yourself and your skills to higher levels.

We also run a range of wedding photography courses where you can learn the essential skills of this rewarding business.

January 9th, Chelmsford, Essex
Battling bravely against the elements we ran one of our introductory photography courses around Chelmsford town centre, last week. All of the delegates turned up despite the travel chaos and we had a great time practising a variety of techniques.
This beginners photgraphy course remains one of our most popular classes and is ideal for a broad range of people including those new to photography, new to digital or simply want to improve the quality of the pictures that they take.
We cover a lot of information during the day however it is run with a small class size in a friendly atmosphere so that everyone gets plenty out of the day.
Everyone had a brilliant time despite the weather, although we had to take a couple more coffee breaks than normal (never a bad thing).
We run this course and others including wedding and portrait workshops each month. Please have a look at the feedback page to see the delegates reviews.
Welcome to our new website which we hope you enjoy looking around. We will continue to develop the site and our courses over the coming weeks so please accept our apologies if you don’t find the information you require right now and continue to visit us.
We are excited by the new year ahead as we have put in an enormous amount of work to further inprove the quality of our photography training courses in Essex and London.
We have found some wonderful new locations and some great models for you to shoot and learn with, we hope to see you soon, please look out for our wedding photography courses and portrait photography courses.
regards,
Nick Wood
